I absolutely agree, Anon! I think it’s both a signal to the reader that Rung is feeling some sort of intense emotion as well as a psychological tell to the character himself. It’s a useful detail, especially since it’s Rung’s first instinct to try to keep a neutral yet empathetic disposition because of his career.
(Also since Rung has quit I think we’re going to be seeing him act more emotional than he has in the past with MTMTE. We’ve already seen it with Skids’ death and his conversation with Nightbeat, but it will be interesting to see how he fairs with the rest of his amicas.)
